Ark: Survival Evolved spinoff PixARK should come to Steam Early Access this March and officially release later this current year.
Pixark is being developed by Snail Games, who describes it as an open-world sandbox survival game. Ark: Survival Evolved programmer Studio Wildcard presented “design and technical input,” Snail Games says.
PixARK may be played in singleplayer or multiplayer survival modes, in addition to a creative way that allows players to build without limits. Outside of crafting and making, players may also be in a position to train and ride “over 100” dinosaurs, some of which will appear familiar to Ark: Survival Evolved players. The voxel-based spinoff builds on the base building, dinosaur taming formula of its predecessor with the addition of structured, RPG-like content. There are procedurally generated quests to go with its procedurally generated worlds, Snail Games says, as well as a focus on character progression and customization. Its announcement trailer also hints at more conventional fantasy elements as promised.
And discussing as a person that’s played a lot of Ark and Minecraft, I would be untruthful if I said I was not at least only a little bit interested. PixArk is due to publish on Xbox Games Preview and Steam Early Access this March, according to Snail Games. The full version will release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and it is anticipated to arrive on full release later within the year.
